1942 Old Kentucky Manufacturing Co., Advertising Envelope

Old Kentucky Manufacturing Company advertising envelope from 1942. The company made Old Kentucky Well Made Brand work shirts, pants, overalls, play suits and dress shirts. The company originally started out as the Kentucky Manufacturing Company in 1904 and and was succeeded  by Old Kentucky in 1909. At some point in the late 1960s the Old Kentucky name was re-registered by the Washington Manufacturing Company who manufactured the Dee-Cee brand.

Pictured below are various Old Kentucky packaging pieces obtained from The San Fernando Mercantile Co., a spot that all denim and workwear lovers should have bookmarked.

  1. the old Dry Goods stores here were flooded w/ Old Kentucky brand clothing...I used to find a lot of it (50s-60s vintage made in Tn)...unfortunately, it was very low quality in workmanship and materials...maybe that's why I used to find so much and prolly why they went out of business...

  2. It's unfortunate, but it seems like a lot of brands go down in quality as they near an end or are taken over by other companies.

  3. Hey Mike, How about a mention or credit when original content is shared (Old Kentucky flashers). As you well know it takes time and effort to take & edit all the original photos. Keep up the good work, I do like your style.
