1920s Cabinet Photo of the Pennsylvania Railroad's Locomotive #3117

Great cabinet photo of the crew of the Pennsylvania Railroad's locomotive #3117. From what I could find , the #3117 was in a class of locomotives with the designation of G5s. These steam locomotives were designed primarily for providing power to passenger trains. The G5s were built between during the early to mid 1920s. This photo is undated and has no markings, but the clothing looks earlier than the 1920s.

Lucky Joe's Secret - Sweet, Orr & Co. Advertising Booklet 1897

Here's a great little advertising booklet for Sweet, Orr & Company that I had never seen before. It was published by The Bates-Whitman Company, New York City in 1897. This copy was distributed by M. Hoban Dry Goods in Benson, Minnesota.

The booklet is basically a story about how a "Lucky Joe" gets ahead in life by being a smart shopper and buying Sweet, Orr & Company work clothes. I find it kinda funny that "Lucky Joe" has saved enough money buying Sweet, Orr & Company goods that he can afford a piano. I guess that was the thing to have back then.

1901 Becker Brothers Quaker Overalls Bilhead

Billhead dated July 25, 1901 from Becker Brothers, makers of Quaker Overalls. Not that much out there on this company. All that I've been able to dig up is that they moved from their North Tonawanda, NY address to Butler, PA in 1912. I also found reference to Quaker Overalls in ads appearing in the Pittsburgh Press up to 1922. If anyone has any other info on this firm, please pass it along.
